How to Keep God First Every Day

How to Keep God First Every Day

Faith is something that as believers, we need to live out everyday, not just on Sundays or when it's easy or convenient. Jesus reminds us of this in Mark 11:22.

He says, “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

Keeping God first starts with having faith. Faith in who He is, faith in knowing He will do the things He says He will, believing in what He says and in the truth in Him being involved in every detail in our lives.

Keeping God first is not about adding Him to a to-do list or checking off a box. We are not here to go through the motions of a relationship with God. We are made to honor Him in our priorities, our decisions, our rhythms—even in things that may seem simple, like what you wear and what you eat.

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
—1 Corinthians 10:31

1. Start Your Day With Him

Before the notifications, before starting your day, before the rush and before the noise.

Begin your day by acknowledging Him. It doesn’t have to be an hour-long devotional. Sometimes it’s one verse, one breath, one honest prayer:

“Lord, I give you this day. Lead me in it.”

Soak in the quiet moments with the Lord. Listen to Him. Whether it’s journaling Scripture or just thanking Him over coffee, this first act reminds your heart who’s in charge.

2. Honor Him in What You Wear

Clothing and jewelry may seem small—but they say something about us.

We believe you can wear your faith without having to say a word.
That’s why we design jewelry rooted in Scripture, subtle, intentional pieces that serve as daily reminders of truth.

Wearing something that reflects God’s Word doesn’t just make a statement to others... it realigns your own heart throughout the day. It becomes armor. A conversation starter. A call to walk differently.

3. Check Your Motives Throughout the Day

Keeping God first means checking in—with your heart and your habits. In each thing you do there is a motive and a deeper meaning.

  • Are you trying to prove yourself or please Him?

  • Are your words building others up or tearing down?

  • Are you letting fear drive decisions or trusting His timing?

Ask Him often: “God, am I honoring You in this?”

He will gently show you. And the Holy Spirit will give you grace to adjust.

4. Make Time for God’s Word, Not Just Content

Podcasts are great. Worship music is powerful. But nothing replaces Scripture.

Let the Word recalibrate your thoughts. Let it speak before the world does.

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” —Psalm 119:105

Even one verse carried in your pocket or around your neck can ground your entire day.

5. Honor God in Your Eating + Living

Your body isn’t just yours, it’s a temple and a gift from God. And the way we treat it is another way we reflect who He is.

Eat in a way that sustains you, not controls you. Move your body because it’s a gift, not a burden. Rest, not out of laziness, but as a declaration that you’re not God—and that’s a good thing.

Every meal, every bite, every act of stewardship is a chance to say: “Lord, even this belongs to You.”

6. Carry Him With You Visibly and Invisibly

Keeping God first is about presence not perfection.

You can carry Him with you in:

  • A necklace engraved with meaning

  • The way you speak to the barista

  • A slow, Spirit-led decision when the pressure says “rush”

  • A meal shared with someone who just needed kindness

And every detail of your life: what you wear, what you eat, how you work, how you love, can reflect Him. You’re not doing this to earn His love. You’re living this way because you already have it and you live your life to honor and glorify him.
